Functions of the Vidyalaya Management Committee :

  1. To exercise control over expenditure in respect of the funds provided by the Samiti for the Vidyalaya. This specifically implies proper custody of funds, due control over expenditure, and ensuring payment to proper persons and parties of correct amount and proper maintenance of accounts.
  2. To prepare budget estimates for the next financial year and sending suggestions in respect of new items of expenditure with due justification thereof. These include non-recurring items e.g. buildings, repair, furniture, equipments etc.
  3. To select staff for the Vidyalaya on ad-hoc basis according to the procedure prescribed by the Samiti.
  4. To exercise general supervision over the proper running and functioning of the Vidyalaya including maintenance of discipline among students and staff members.
  5. To exercise general supervision over the proper functioning of hostel, including the catering management by the Vidyalaya.
  6. To follow all rules and instructions issued by the Samiti and make suggestions for any improvement on any matter pertaining to the Vidyalaya.
  7. To assist the Vidyalaya to secure local assistance for its smooth functioning.

Purchase Advisory Sub Committee (PAC)
The composition of the Purchase Advisory Sub-Committee(PAC) is as follows:

  1. Principal , JNV ,Mahe: Chairman
  2.  Deputy Director ( Accts), DAT, Mahe  -  Nominee of the  Chairman, VMC : Member
  3. District Education Officer or Executive Engineer   : Member
  4. One more member of VMC
  5. Vice Principal : Member

For effective Mess management each JNV shall constitute a Mess Committee comprising of the following Members

PARENT TEACHER COUNCIL


Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya being Co-educational and Residential in nature the participation and support of local community and parents will give a great fillip to the scheme and would also ensure in complementing the effectiveness and utility of education imported in these institutions in order to develop co-operation between the school and parents, the Samiti has instructed the Vidyalaya to constitute well knit Parent Teacher Council for strengthening the functioning of the Vidyalaya.
The PTC constitutes 15 elected members from parents' side, two each from every class and 5 members from teaching staff. The Chairman of the PTC is Principal. The members are elected in the general body meeting conducted every year.
The following are the aims and objectives of the PTC:


•  To maintain continuous interaction between parents and teachers/school authorities.


•  To involve the parents in the development of the Vidyalaya by utilizing their experiences and expertise.


•  To assist the Vidyalaya in resource mobilization and development of Infrastructure facilities and their maintenance.


•  To assist the Chairman VMC in taking fast and effective decisions.


•  To popularise the advantages of residential culture in terms of Academic excellence  and character building.


•  To liaise with various organization engaged in community service programme through participatory activities of children, parents and teachers.


•  To develop network of Alumni and their parents to help the institution to play its role effectively as a pace setup.
